Summary:
Cherry Cone is an ice cream and burger joint with 1950’s diner aesthetics.
Project Goals:
Create the main logo and mascot for a family friendly 1950’s style diner.
The iconic mascot should be scalable to work in a variety of applications, including large outdoor signage, food packaging, tabletop menus, and merchandise.
Create the menus for the restaurant, keeping in mind the fun 1950’s diner aesthetics.
Process:
Logo/Signage: Initial ideas were sketched on paper and with Procreate before being finalized in Adobe Illustrator. The main signage needed to include the restaurant’s name, logo, and a list the primary food items offered. The overall aesthetics needed to be reminiscent of an old fashioned diner and convey a family friendly atmosphere.
Programs Used: Traditional Sketching, Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop
Menu: The menu needed to simply and clearly convey all of the basic menu necessities: food category, food items with descriptions, item-specific options (such as “add cheese”), and price. The image of the food items at the bottom of the menu is a composite of three images. The straws were altered in photoshop from single color to striped, to keep with the red and white aesthetics of the brand.
Programs Used: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
